Are you an employee and would you like to settle in the City of Brussels? The citizen of the European Union or of an assimilated country who wishes to stay in Belgium for more than 3 months must register in the foreigners' register of their municipality before obtaining a residence card.
- Be a citizen of the European Union or of an assimilated country (Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein).
- Establish your main residence on the territory of the City of Brussels.
- Stay for more than 3 months.
- Be an employee.

If you are a posted worker or an employee working in a neighboring country, you must register as a person having sufficient means of subsistence and not as an employee.
1. Make an appointment
Book your appointment online.
2. Register
Bring all the required documents to your appointment in order to obtain the provisional certificate of registration (Annex 8ter).
The police will carry out a residence check to verify that you actually live at the declared address.
If the check is positive, you will be registered in the Register of Foreign Nationals.
3. Apply for your EU residence card
Once registered in the Register of Foreign Nationals, you will be invited to take a new appointment to order your EU residence card.
- Passport or national identity card.
- One recent (maximum 6 months) External siteICAO-compliant passport photo.
- A contract of employment (minimum 12 hours/week and at least 3 months) or an employer's certificate.
- Registration request: 25 euros
- Card request: 30 euros
Approximately 3 weeks after the positive residence check.
