World Environment Day

On Monday 5 June 2023, the tower of the City Hall will light up green on the occasion of World Environment Day.

In this way, the City of Brussels wants to support the External site Beat Plastic Pollution programme of the United Nations (UN). The slogan is a reminder that people's actions on plastic pollution matter. The steps governments and businesses are taking to tackle plastic pollution are the consequence of this action. It is time to accelerate this action and transition to a circular economy.

Climate Plan

Through its climate policy, the City of Brussels is committed to the preservation and revival of ecosystems, also and especially in urban areas. The City already stated that it is in a climate emergency and has committed itself to a series of concrete measures to respond to this. For example, a Climate Plan was approved, with the aim of being carbon neutral by 2050:
