How to help your pet?
Pets suffer from the heat, too. Here are some tips to keep them cool:
- Provide shaded areas in your home.
- Provide plenty of water for your pet.
- Spray your pet lightly with water to cool it down.
- Prefer wet food for dogs and cats. New or exotic pets (herbivores and omnivores) are best fed water-rich foods (fruits and vegetables) such as (water) melon or cucumber.
- Remember to brush especially long-haired pets and remove the dead hairs.
- Never leave your pet alone in a vehicle.
- Be alert for symptoms of sunstroke. If you notice the following, consult your veterinarian immediately: very rapid panting, increased body temperature, trembling, vomiting, diarrhoea, loss of consciousness,...
