The Kids-ID is an electronic identity document for Belgian children under the age of 12.
The Kids-ID is not compulsory and you must apply for it yourself on behalf of your child.
It is valid for 3 years.
Children under 12 years of age can travel within the European Union and to some other countries using their Kids-ID. In some countries, the child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian or have parental permission.
- Being Belgian
- Having one's main residence on the territory of the City of Brussels
- Being under 12 years of age
Belgian citizens registered in a diplomatic post have the option of ordering an identity card in a Belgian municipality.

An adult with parental authority over the child must apply and collect the Kids-ID in person.
- Kids-ID application (the presence of the child is compulsory): by appointment only (except for urgent applications), at the counter of the Administrative Centre of the City of Brussels or at the liaison offices in Laeken, Louise, Neder-Over-Heembeek and Haren
- Kids-ID collection (the presence of the child is not necessary): no appointment necessary, at the counter where the application was made. Please note: a card issued as a result of an urgent application will only be available for collection at the Administrative Centre

A recent passport photo (maximum 6 months old) that meets External siteICAO standards
Old Kids-ID, if applicable
Standard application: 10 euros
Urgent application: 150 euros
An additional municipal tax is applicable in the following cases:
- Renewal following a 2nd loss/theft: 52 euros
- Renewal following a 3rd loss/theft: 150 euros
Standard application: 2 to 3 weeks
Urgent application: next day, if the application is submitted before 3 pm. Outside of administration opening hours, you can, on request, collect the Kids-ID at the FPS Home Affairs, located at the Rue des Colonies 11 - 1000 Brussels.
