Visiting the cemeteries of the City of Brussels

Visiting the cemeteries of the City of Brussels

A walk through the cemeteries of the City of Brussels (Brussels-Evere, Laeken, Neder-Over-Heembeek and Haren) offers an alternative way to discover the heritage and history of the city.

The City of Brussels provides various aids for visitors. A number of associations or city guides also offer guided tours for groups.

Each cemetery can be visited during opening hours (see practical info). Please respect the peace and tranquillity of the site and its facilities.

  • Dogs, even on a leash, are not allowed in the cemetery, except for guide dogs for the blind.
  • Taking photos or videos without prior permission is prohibited. To request permission, please send your request to deces@brucity.be.

The cemeteries of Brussels-Evere and Laeken have an electric cart. Thus, people with reduced mobility can visit the whole site.

Discovery booklets

To help you make the most of your visit, booklets tell you about the history and the monuments at the cemeteries. A booklet on the underground galleries in Laeken Cemetery is also on offer.

Available at the reception desk at the cemeteries of Brussels-Evere and Laeken.
