Renovation and EPB standards in Brussels

By 2033, all homes in Brussels must achieve at least energy class E. This corresponds to the EPB 275 target (Energy Performance and Indoor Climate of Buildings): a maximum of 275 kWh/m²/year. Classes F and G will therefore no longer be permitted.

Low Emission Zone: new ban since 2026

The Low Emission Zone (LEZ) is applied in Brussels since 1 January 2018. This measure prohibits certain vehicles to drive in Brussels. Since 1 January 2026, all EURO 5 diesel and EURO 2 petrol vehicles (cars, vans, buses, lorries), as well as petrol motorcycles, that no longer meet at least the EURO 3 standard, are no longer allowed to drive in the Brussels Region.
